New Charity Status

During the later part of 2025 we successfully undertook registering as a charity with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profit Commission (ACNC). The advantage is purely administrative in that we now only need to complete one annual financial report (to the ACNC). Previously we needed to complete arduous reporting to both the ATO and the QLD Department of Fair Trading.

To fully comply with ACNC requirements we are required to make a small change to our constitution as we are registered under a "sustainability" category. At the AGM the management committee will propose that the current objective,

'Use the garden for social interaction to include all sectors of the community'

change to,

'Use the garden to promote sustainability through social interaction, including all sectors of the community'.
