We need your help!


Our playgroup and events program are amazing community facilities that our garden has provided for the last five years. We need new volunteer Playgroup and Events Coordinators to keep these integral activities going at the garden.

Without volunteers to take on these rewarding and fulfilling roles, playgroup will finish at the end of February and events will not continue after 2017.

We also require a new volunteer Committee Member to assist with the smooth running of the garden.

If you are able to help, please contact us as soon as possible regarding the below roles.

Playgroup Coordinator

Our weekly playgroup gives children aged 0-5 and their parents or carers the opportunity to socialise in a natural, relaxed setting. It has allowed many local families to make life-long friends and provided them with a support network. To allow this group to continue to flourish, we are seeking a volunteer Playgroup Coordinator who will be responsible for coordinating activities, ensuring someone is available to open up/lock up each session (some playgroup members will assist with this), liaising with the garden management committee, welcoming new members and responding to some queries via Facebook and email. You must be willing to become a member of Wynnum Manly Community Gardens Group and be willing to apply for a Blue Card (at no charge) if you do not already hold one.

Events Coordinator

Our garden has been a wonderful resource for many local people wishing to learn more about sustainability, composting and growing their own food. In partnership with Brisbane City Council we have hosted many free and low cost events ranging from worm farming to making your own natural body care products. To allow this wonderful program of events to continue, we are seeking an Events Coordinator to be responsible for organising the public education program and taking bookings. This person also organises for someone to be present to set up workshops. The program of events for 2017 is already in place, so now is a great time to ease into this role and learn the ropes. You must be willing to become a member of Wynnum Manly Community Gardens Group.

Management Committee Position

Our garden runs smoothly behind the scenes thanks to our friendly team of volunteers who make up the Management Committee. The role of Wynnum Manly Community Gardens Group Coordinator (Committee President) will be coming available in 2018 and we are seeking someone to take a non-executive position on the Management Committee from our Annual General Meeting on 26 March 2017, with a view to ease into the Coordinator role from the 2018 Annual General Meeting. The Coordinator role involves chairing meetings, overseeing all aspects of the garden, supporting management committee and auxiliary role members and liaising with Brisbane City Council. Initially, as a non-executive committee member, the person will be required to attend management committee meetings and be part of the governance and decision making process.
