A big thanks to Brisbane City Council for the Cultivating Community Gardens Grant funds.
This year this BCC money has provided the Garden with a new compost thermometer, materials for edging the food forest, materials for building our two bamboo trellises and supplies of organic fertilisers. This financial support is greatly appreciated.
Clytie Binder, from Brisbane City Council, presented a fantastic compost and worm farm workshop at the garden recently. 25 people attended and learnt many new skills regarding composting, how to start a worm farm and how to generally reduce household waste.
We recently installed some cypress mulch between some areas of our garden beds to reduce the area needing mowing and whippersnipping. The mulch and weedmat were purchased from a Brisbane City Council grant. This grant has also provided funding to cover much of our maintenance and consumable costs for the year. As always, we are very grateful for the ongoing support of Brisbane City Council.
Despite the heavy rain, 25 people intrepid and dedicated people came to the garden for the Brisbane City Council Composting Workshop. Thanks to Craig for organising set up and morning tea in such challenging conditions!
